Domestic Breakthrough! Huaxia Hydrogen Completes Mass Production Line for 2.2-Meter Composite Membranes for Alkaline Electrolyzers

Recently, Huaxia Hydrogen Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Huaxia Hydrogen”), a subsidiary of CM Energy, officially completed the construction of the first intelligent mass production line for 2.2-meter-wide composite membranes dedicated to alkaline electrolyzers. Jointly developed by Huaxia Hydrogen's R&D team and leading experts in the membrane separation industry, the line is designed for large-scale, automated production of high-performance composite membranes for alkaline electrolyzers with capacities of 1,000 Nm³/h and above.

This achievement marks a significant technological breakthrough in the development of core materials for green hydrogen equipment. The large-scale application of these advanced membranes is expected to substantially enhance the overall efficiency and performance of alkaline water electrolyzers.

The newly developed composite membrane adopts a novel polymer substrate combined with nano-coating technology, with technical specifications reaching internationally advanced levels. Its key competitive advantages include:

  1.  Exceptional Safety – The membrane's gas barrier performance is 50 times higher than that of conventional PPS membranes, with a hydrogen–oxygen cross-permeability of ≤0.7%, effectively eliminating the risk of gas mixing during electrolysis.
  2. High Energy Efficiency – Ion migration efficiency is improved by 40%, reducing the electrolyzer's DC power consumption to below 4.0 kWh/Nm³ of hydrogen.
  3. Superior Durability – A proprietary material formulation extends service life by over 30% under high-temperature, strongly alkaline operating conditions.

As a critical component in the “materials revolution” for alkaline electrolyzers, membrane performance directly determines electrolyzer efficiency. The commissioning of this 2.2-meter-wide intelligent production line not only enables large-scale delivery capacity for composite membranes but also supports Huaxia Hydrogen's “one body, two wings” growth strategy—where alkaline hydrogen production equipment is the core business, complemented by membrane and electrode technologies.
