Rigid Sail

WindWings® is a three-element rigid sail with patented technology from BART in the UK. The camber(shape) and angle of attack to the wind are fully adjustable to ensure the optimal configuration is always achievable, maximizing its aerodynamic performance. WindWing's performance has been independently verified by renowned fluid dynamics research institutions Wolfson Unit and Lloyds, and certified by DNV.
Product Model: 20m, 24m, 37.5m
Product Description

The product is a globally patented rigid sail system that incorporates three elements, combining steel and composite materials in its structure. This innovative system uses automated adjustments to the sail angle and camber, responding to real-time data to achieve more than 2.5 times the lift of conventional single-wing sails, maximizing aerodynamic efficiency. With AlP certification and design type approval from reputable classification societies like DNV and BV, the fuel-saving benefits of product have been confirmed through real-world vessel operations, as verified by DNV.

Designed for versatility, Rigid Sail supports multiple operational modes, ensuring peak performance across various sailing conditions, such as navigation, berthing, and extreme weather. When mounted on bulk carriers, the system is strategically positioned across the decks between cargo holds, allowing smooth hatch cover operations and seamless integration with cargo handling equipment. Its advanced design enables it to rotate into a laydown position, providing safe clearance from hatch covers and machinery.

Bulk carriers equipped with the product have demonstrated consistent performance over several years, completing calls at over 20 major global ports without incident.
