Methanol Feed System

The methanol fuel system consists of the following key equipment, which can be broadly categorized into methanol supply unit, filling and delivery system, auxiliary system, and control and safety system. The methanol supply unit ensures that the engine manufacturer's requirements for methanol are met, including pressure, temperature, flow rate and cleanliness. It is important to keep the pressure and flow steady when the engine is working at different loads. The system must also respond accurately in different situations, such as when the engine starts, when it is stopped or switched, and when it is shut down.
Product Description

Overview of the Methanol Feed System (MFSS)

The Methanol Feed System (MFSS) consists of several key subsystems, including the filling and transfer module, main supply unit, auxiliary support systems, and safety and control modules. We are capable of independently designing and manufacturing MFSS units, or delivering fully customized solutions tailored to the specific requirements of our clients.

Product Overview

1. METHANOL SUPPLY UNIT – This unit ensures that critical methanol parameters—pressure, temperature, flow rate, and cleanliness—consistently meet engine manufacturer specifications. It maintains stable performance under varying engine loads, and operates reliably during start-up, shutdown, and transitions.

2. FILLING & DELIVERY SYSTEM – Designed in strict compliance with SOLAS-IBC Code standards for chemical tankers, this system ensures safe methanol handling throughout bunkering, storage, and transfer, considering its low flashpoint, toxicity, and corrosiveness.

3. MODULAR STRUCTURE FOR FLEXIBLE DEPLOYMENT – Featuring a modular design, the system can be flexibly installed and adjusted to suit different vessel layouts. It is available either as a standalone unit or as part of a fully integrated system.

4. COMPLIANCE WITH FUEL AND CHEMICAL SAFETY CODES – The system complies with both the SOLAS-IBC Code for chemical safety and the IGF Code for low flashpoint fuels, ensuring safe and reliable operations at all times.

5. CUSTOMIZED SOLUTIONS FOR SHIPOWNERS – Whether for newbuilds or retrofit projects, we offer customized system configurations that are both dependable and adaptable to shipowners' operational requirements.

Installation Process

1. Review the vessel’s design documents and interface specifications in detail, and resolve any remaining technical clarifications in advance.

2. Prepare all required tools and equipment, and carry out safety procedures before initiating installation.

3. Transport the prefabricated methanol fuel supply module to the designated area, and position it with appropriate lifting equipment.

4. Secure the module base to the vessel’s structure, ensuring accurate alignment and compliance with design-level flatness and stability criteria.

5. Connect the methanol piping, auxiliary lines, and control cables, while checking the sealing quality and ensuring all electrical connections are intact.

6. Conduct subsystem-specific and integrated tests to verify the readiness and functionality of the bunkering, supply, and safety control systems.
